Catholic priest abducted in Abia state




 A Catholic priest identified as Rev Fr Godfrey Mark Chimezie of St Theresa Catholic Church, Umuahia, Abia State, has been abducted.

 

The Catholic priest who had just concluded a morning mass at St Gabriel ,Okpururie, Afaraukwu, was kidnapped along Enyiukwu Road Ohokobe Afaraukwu community, Ibeku in Umuahia North LGA of Abia State

Deontay Wilder handed six-months medical suspension following his knockout defeat to Tyson Fury


 Deontay Wilder has been handed  six-month medical suspension following his knockout defeat by Tyson Fury in Las Vegas, another major blow to the Bronze Bomber's boxing career.

 

The American heavyweight was knocked down three times by the Gypsy King  on his way to victory in their trilogy fight last weekend. 


Wilder was immediately taken to a Nevada hospital to be checked over after the bruising encounter and he will now undergo surgery on a broken hand next week. 

Gunmen ambush police patrol team in Bayelsa, cart away riffle


 A police patrol team has been ambushed by suspected cultists at Kolo-Ogbia road, in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

 

A riffle belonging to a police inspector who was injured in the attack, was reportedly carted away

Police spokesman in Bayelsa State, SP Asinim Butswat confirmed the incident and also revealed that only the inspector sustained an injury. He added in Bayelsa State Police media WhatsApp group, that an investigation is ongoing.

Sunday Igboho diagnosed with likely kidney problem in Beninise prison -Lawyer claims


 Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboho, has been reportedly diagnosed with possible kidney or lungs illness.

 

One of his lawyers, Yomi Aliyyu, who disclosed this in an interview with BBC Yoruba, said Igboho developed the illness in Benin Republic prison custody. According to him, the agitator has also been critically ill and rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Court fines Fani-Kayode N200,000 for being absent for re-arraignment

 

A Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, ordered a former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode to pay a fine of N200,000 for being absent from court for his re-arraignment, on the excuse of having a bed rest.

The court had asked counsel to Fani-Kayode, Mr F. Ajudua to choose between revoking the bail of the second defendant or paying the fine.


Police arrest abductors of Kaduna Catholic priest, 45 other criminal suspects

 



Two men in connection with the abduction of a Catholic priest in Kaduna have been arrested by the Nigeria Police Force Intelligence Response Team.

This followed an intense intelligence-led operations to unravel, arrest and bring to book the criminal gang responsible for a series of related high-profile kidnap operations in Kaduna.

The suspects which include Abubakar Usman(21) and Sailisu Abdullahi(28) had sophisticated weapons recovered from them.

Chiwetalu Agu visits Ozekhome after release from DSS custody

Nollywood actor, Chiwetalu Agu, and representatives of the Actors Guild of Nigeria paid a courtesy visit to human rights lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN), after the actor’s release from the Department of State Services.
According to the lawyer, the secret police released Agu because they didn’t find anything incriminating on the actor’s phones.
Ozekhome made this revelation in a statement on Tuesday shortly after the secret police released the actor from its headquarters in Abuja.
The lawyer said his chambers took up Agu’s case after being briefed by the Actors Guild of Nigeria.
After his release, Chiwetalu Agu in the company of AGN representatives visited Ozekhome in his Abuja’s chambers.

Missing female officer under investigation by Police in Enugu


 The Police Command in Enugu State has ordered intensive investigation into a missing female officer during an attack on its Divisional Headquarters in Umulokpa, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area in Enugu State by unidentified gunmen.


The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the divisional headquarters was attacked October 9 by yet-to-be identified hoodlums who vandalised operational vehicles and other items in the station.
